Each unit has four pagestwo pages of grammar presentation and two
pages of practice.

Presentation:
- A cartoon or piece of realia presents the target grammar
in a meaningful context to raise student interest and involvement.
- The Check Point helps students think about the meaning of the grammar point in the illustration.
- Grammar Charts present the target grammar in all its forms, and the
Chart Checks ask questions about the Grammar Charts.
- Express Checks are quick, self-access activities that allow students to discover the target grammar and manipulate its forms before they start studying its uses.
- Concise Grammar Explanations and multiple Examples focus on the meaning and uses of the target grammar. (The Be careful! Notes point out typical mistakes that English students make.)

Practice:
Two full pages of controlled practice exercises, including fill-ins,
matching, mutliple choice, and writing/editing skill builders:
- Exercise 1 is always a "for recognition only" exercise, which has the student find out or understand the grammar point, but not use it yet.
- Exercises 2 and 3 have students actively practice the grammar point.
- Exercise 4 is always an editing exercise.
